Costs
At No. 1 Fertility, it’s our goal to ensure that the opportunity to create a family is accessible to everyone.
Private Health Insurance
While private health insurance is not required to access treatment at No.1 Fertility, it can help reduce certain costs associated with your fertility journey. In particular, private health cover may assist with:
• Hospital day admission and anaesthetist fees
These are often covered if your policy includes in-hospital cover for assisted reproductive services. The applicable Medicare item number for an egg collection procedure is 13212, which is an inpatient item.
• Medications not covered by Medicare/ under the PBS
Some private health policies may contribute towards the cost of certain medications prescribed during treatment.
• Other hospital-related services
Depending on your level of cover, you may be eligible for benefits towards procedures performed under anaesthetic (e.g., surgical sperm collection).
At No.1 Fertility, we do not typically perform embryo transfers in a hospital setting unless anaesthetic is required. By carrying out these procedures in our clinic, we help keep costs down for our patients by avoiding hospital admission and bed fees.
Please note:
• Medicare does not cover hospital bed fees for IVF procedures.
• Waiting periods for assisted reproductive services can be up to 12 months from the time you take out or upgrade your policy.
• Cover can vary significantly between funds and policies, we strongly recommend contacting your health insurer to confirm your waiting periods, item number coverage, rebates, and eligibility before commencing treatment.
For more information on what your policy covers, please contact your insurer directly and quote Medicare item number 13212 for egg collection. If you are planning other procedures, ask your fertility specialist or our Accounts team for the relevant item numbers to check with your insurer.
